Sort and recover: find what matters before anything leaves
Room-by-room sorting for homes where documents, photos, money or heirlooms may be buried. Your family decides what is kept, donated or discarded, and nothing important is lost in the cleanout.
Why families choose sort and recover
In many cluttered homes, the important things are mixed in with everything else: a will in a stack of mail, cash in coat pockets, a deed in a cereal box, decades of family photos in garbage bags. A fast clear-out risks losing them. Sort and recover trades speed for certainty.
How it works
- We agree on the search list. You tell us what you know exists and what you are worried about. We add the documents executors and attorneys usually need.
- Three-zone sorting. Every room is sorted into keep, donate and discard. Anything uncertain goes into a labeled family review box.
- Finds are logged. Documents, valuables and cash are photographed, listed and handed to your designated person daily.
- You approve before removal. Nothing in the donate or discard zones leaves until you have had the chance to review it, in person or by photo.
- Clear-out and broom-clean. Once sorting is done, the rest of the job runs like our hoarding cleanup.
Items we always set aside
Medications, firearms and ammunition, and anything that looks hazardous are never handled as ordinary household items. We stop, set them aside, and tell you so they can be disposed of or transferred properly. Sensitive papers you do not keep are shredded, not thrown in a dumpster.
Working with out-of-state families
If you cannot be here, we do a live video walkthrough, send end-of-day photos and a list of finds, and ship or hold kept items as you direct.

See all questionsWhat do you search for?
Anything you name, plus the things families most often need: wills, deeds, titles, tax and bank records, insurance policies, passports, birth and marriage certificates, photos, jewelry, cash, coins and keys.
What happens to cash or valuables you find?
They are bagged, logged, photographed and handed to the person you designate at the end of each day. Nothing found in the home leaves with our crew.
Can the family sort with you?
Yes, and many do. You can be on site, join by video, or let us set items aside in labeled boxes for you to review later.
How is sort and recover priced?
By the overall effort, because sorting time depends on how carefully you want each room handled. You get a written price after the walkthrough, never an hourly rate.
You do not have to face this alone, and you do not have to decide everything today.
